(2 to 4 inches thick)

2Bqm--26 to 33 inches; very pale brown (10YR 7/4) continuously strongly cemented duripan, dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) moist; strong thin platy structure; with 1/4 to 1/8 inch thick indurated, continuous silica and manganese capping; 30 percent gravel, 20 percent cobbles; slightly alkaline (pH 7.5); clear wavy boundary. (7 to 10 inches thick)

COMPETING SERIES: These are Drewsgap (OR) and Milldam (OR)?????

GEOGRAPHIC SETTING: Sweagert soils are on terraces. Slopes are 0 to 9 percent. These soils formed in alluvium from extrusive igneous rock. Elevation is 4200 to 4800 feet. The climate is semiarid with warm dry summers and cold moist winters. Mean annual precipitation is 14 to 16 inches. Snowfall is 12 to 24 inches. The mean annual temperature is 45 to 50 degrees F. The mean January temperature is about 32 degrees F. The mean July temperature is about 67 degrees F. Frost free season is 80 to 120 days.

GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are the Adinot (T), Bieber, and Oxendine (T) soils. Adin soils are on fans and hills, are less than 20 inches deep to bedrock. Bieber soils are on mounds, are less than 20 inches deep to duripan and are clayey. Oxendine soils are on intermounds, are less than 20 inches deep to a gravelly duripan and are loamy.

DRAINAGE AND PERMEABILITY: Moderately well drained; slow to ponded runoff; moderately slow permeability in the upper part of the Bt horizon and slow in the lower part, in some pedons it is moderately slow throughout.

USE AND VEGETATION: This soil is used for livestock grazing. Small areas are used as cropland. The natural vegetation is needlegrass, bluebunch wheatgrass, sandberg bluegrass, bottlebrush squireltail, and low sagebrush. Soils are cropped to barley, wheat, oats, and some alfalfa.

DISTRIBUTION AND EXTENT: Northeastern California. The soils are not extensive. MLRA is 21.
