A2--4 to 20 cm; loam, dark brown (10YR 3/3) dry, very dark brown (10YR 2/2) moist; moderate weak subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; many very fine and fine and few medium and coarse roots; many very fine tubular pores; 2 percent gravel; slightly acid (pH 6.5); clear wavy boundary

Bw1--20 to 40 cm; loam, brown (10YR 5/3) dry, dark brown (10YR 3/3) moist; strong medium subangular blocky structure; very hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; common very fine and fine roots and few medium roots; many very fine tubular pores; 10 percent noncemented cicada nodules; 5 percent gravel; neutral (pH 7.0); gradual wavy boundary
