COMPETING SERIES: These are the Dulcepeak and Ponil series. Dulcepeak soils are moderately deep. Ponil soils hues 10YR and yellower.
GEOGRAPHIC SETTING: Bario soils are on high plains and have slopes of 0 to 5 percent. They formed in material derived from conglomerate, tuff, and other pyroclastic sediments. The mean annual precipitation is about 16 to 20 inches, and the mean annual temperature is about 40 to 46 degrees F. Elevation ranges from 7,500 to 7,900 feet. Frost-free season is 80 to 120 days.
GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are the Adman, Brycan, Pleioville, and Smilo soils. Adman soils have a lithic contact within 20 inches. Brycan soils are in a fine-loamy and have an over thickened mollic epipedon. Smilo and Pleioville soils have a lithic contact between 20 and 40 inches.
DRAINAGE AND PERMEABILITY: Well drained; medium runoff; slow permeability.
USE AND VEGETATION: Bario soils are used for livestock grazing. Present vegetation is mainly blue grama.
