Ap--0 to 8 cm (0 to 3 inch), brown (10YR 4/3) loam; weak fine granular structure; very friable, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; many fine and very fine roots; 2 percent angular quartzite gravels; very strongly acid; clear smooth boundary.
C1--8 to 102 cm (3 to 40 inches), yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) clay loam; few fine prominent red (2.5YR 5/6) and common medium distinct yellowish red (5YR5/6) mottles; massive; friable, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; common fine and very fine roots; 8 percent angular quartzite gravels; strongly acid; clear wavy boundary.
C2--102 to 152 cm (40 to 60 inches), yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) clay loam; massive; friable, slightly sticky, moderately plastic; few fine and medium mica flakes; 8 percent angular quartzite gravels; strongly acid.
TYPE LOCATION: Fairfax County, Virginia; located in South Run District Park on the man-made hill behind the goal posts of the first athletic field to the left of the park entrance fro the intersection with route 7100, 170 feet east of the northest corner of the second parking lot and 730 feet southwest of the park entrance on route 7100; Latitude 38 degrees, 45 minutes, 2.5 seconds north and Longitude 77 degrees, 16 minutes, 28.3 seconds west.
