TYPICAL PEDON: Bernardpeak muck in a willow and shrub birch dominated stream terrace, on a south facing 10percent slope at 912 m elevation (2990 ft).
Oi--0 to 10 cm (0 to 4 in); peat, very dark brown (10YR 2/2) broken face moist; many very fine, and common fine and medium roots throughout; neutral (pH 7.2); abrupt wavy boundary (6 to 12 cm, 2 to 5 in)
Oa--10 to 42 cm (4 to 17 in); muck, black (10YR 2/1) broken face moist; common very fine and medium roots throughout; noneffervescent; slightly alkaline (pH 7.4); abrupt wavy boundary. (26 to 40 cm, 10 to 16 in)
C--42 to 150 cm (17 to 59 in); very gravelly fine sand, brown (10YR 5/3) broken face moist; single grain; loose; nonsmeary; common very fine roots throughout; few very fine tubular pores; 45 percent subrounded gravel by volume; noneffervescent; slightly alkaline (pH 7.5). (109 to 119 cm, 43 to 47 in)

GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are the

Chelina soils are well drained, have a loess mantle, have a cambic horizon, and occur on lacustrine terraces.
Cirquecreek soils are well drained, have a cambic horizon, have more than 35 percent coarse fragments in its particle size control section, and occurs on saddles and mountain slopes.
Drashner soils are somewhat poorly drained, have histic epipedons, and occur on mountains and hillslopes.
Fourthofjuly soils are well drained, has a folistic epipedon, and occurs on mountain valleys and stream terraces.
Greylingcreek soils are excessively drained, have more than 35 percent coarse fragments in the particle size control section, and occur in mountain valleys and moraines.
