TYPICAL PEDON: Chehalis silt loam in an area of hayland (When described on June 25, 2014, the soil was dry to a depth of 50 cm and moist below that depth.)

Ap1--0 to 13 cm; silt loam, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist, brown (10YR 4/3) dry; strong very fine subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, very friable, nonsticky and slightly plastic; many very fine and fine roots; many very fine, common fine, and few medium tubular pores and few medium irregular pores; strongly acid (pH 5.5); abrupt smooth boundary

Ap2--13 to 51 cm; silt loam, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist, dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) dry; strong very fine subangular blocky structure; moderately hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; many very fine and few fine roots; common very fine and fine tubular pores and few medium irregular pores; faint organic stains on all faces of peds; strongly acid (pH 5.5); abrupt smooth boundary

Bw1--51 to 70 cm; silty clay loam, dark brown (10YR 3/3) moist, dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) dry; strong very fine subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, friable, slightly sticky and moderately plastic; common very fine roots; common very fine and fine tubular pores; faint organic stains on all faces of peds; moderately acid (pH 6.0); clear smooth boundary

TYPE LOCATION: Grays Harbor County, Washington, about 4.5 km south of Porter and about 40 m east of South Bank Road; about 355 m north and 125 m east of the southwest corner of section. 3, T. 16 N., R. 5 W., Willamette Meridian; Malone, Washington, U.S. Geological Survey quadrangle; latitude 46.8988883 degrees north, longitude 123.3073867 degrees west, WGS 84 (coordinates determined with a GPS)
