COMPETING SERIES: These are the Arizo (NV), Jean (NV) and Kokan (NM) series. Arizo and Jean soils are in the Mohave Desert (MLRA 30), receive mostly winter precipitation and are usually dry from April through November. Kokan soils are in the Chihuahuan Desert (MLRA 42) receive mostly summer precipitation and are usually dry from October through June.
GEOGRAPHIC SETTING: Dudleyville soils are on alluvial fans and stream terraces at elevations of 2,000 feet to 3,800 feet. These soils formed in mixed fan alluvium and stream alluvium. Slopes range from 1 to 8 percent. The mean annual precipitation is 7 to 12 inches. The mean annual air temperature is 59 to 70 degrees F. the frost-free period is 190 to 260 days.
GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are the Agustin, Hayhook, Bucklebar, and Yturbide soils. Agustin and Hayhook soils are coarse-loamy. Bucklebar soils are fine-loamy. Yturbide soils are sandy. Hayhook and Bucklebar soils are on fan terraces. Agustin and Yturbide are on adjacent landforms.
DRAINAGE AND PERMEABILITY: Excessively drained; negligible to low runoff: rapid to very rapid permeability.
USE AND VEGETATION: Used for livestock grazing, wildlife habitat and recreation. Vegetation is whitethorn, mesquite, catclaw, creosotebush, graythorn, and annual grasses.
DISTRIBUTION AND EXTENT: Southern and western Arizona. Dudleyville soils are moderately extensive. MLRA is 40 and 41.
