A1--5 to 13 cm; very gravelly loam, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) dry, very dark brown (10YR 2/2) moist; moderate fine granular structure; soft, very friable, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; many very fine and common fine through coarse roots; many very fine interstitial pores; 55 percent gravel and 2 percent cobbles; strongly acid (pH 5.2); abrupt wavy boundary

A2--13 to 38 cm; gravelly loam, dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) dry, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist; moderate fine subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, very friable, slightly sticky, moderately plastic; common very fine, medium, and coarse and few fine roots; many very fine dendritic tubular pores; 30 percent gravel and 2 percent cobbles; strongly acid (pH 5.4); clear wavy boundary

TYPE LOCATION: Lane County, Oregon, about 15 km east of Lowell in Willamette National Forest; 50 m north and 610 m east of the southwest corner of section 20, T. 19 S., R. 2 E., Willamette Meridian; latitude 43.89526, longitude -122.59940, datum WGS 84 (coordinates determined with a GPS)
