TYPICAL PEDON: Eiderduck peat on a linear, linear depression on a slope of 1 percent at an elevation of 3 m (The soil was wet, nonsatiatied from 0 to 25 cm and wet, satiated throughout the rest of the profile when described on July 12, 2015.)

Oi--0 to 20 cm; peat, grayish brown (10YR 5/2) dry, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist; many very fine, moderately few medium and coarse, and common fine roots throughout; slightly acid (pH 6.4); abrupt smooth boundary

Oe1--20 to 35 cm; mucky peat, reddish yellow (7.5YR 6/6) dry, strong brown (7.5YR 4/6) moist; common very fine, very few medium, and moderately few fine roots throughout; moderately acid (pH 5.8); abrupt smooth boundary

Cg/Oe--35 to 68 cm; stratified silt loam, gray (N 5/), dry, very dark gray (N 3/), moist; structureless massive; very friable, slightly sticky, nonplastic; common very fine, few medium, and common fine roots throughout; neutral (pH 6.6); clear smooth boundary

Oe2--68 to 92 cm; mucky peat, dark gray (N 4/), dry, black (N 2.5/), moist; very few very fine and moderately few fine roots throughout; neutral (pH 6.9); Odor, pH after H2O2=5.7 clear smooth boundary
