Oi--0 to 10 cm (0 to 4 in); slightly decomposed plant material, dark brown (7.5YR 3/4) moist; many very fine and fine, and common and coarse roots; very strongly acid (pH 4.8); abrupt wavy boundary

A--10 to 21 cm (4 to 8 in); silt loam, very dark brown (10YR 2/2) moist; weak fine granular structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; nonsmeary; many very fine, common fine, medium, and coarse roots; 5 percent rounded gravel by volume; very strongly acid (pH 4.6); abrupt wavy boundary

Bw--21 to 50 cm (8 to 20 in); fine sand, olive brown (2.5Y 4/3) moist; weak medium subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; nonsmeary; many very fine, and common fine and medium roots; common fine irregular pores; brown (7.5YR 4/4) masses of oxidized iron in matrix; 10 percent rounded gravel by volume; strongly acid (pH 5.5); clear wavy boundary

GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are the Alterationcreek, Bearcreek, Haggardcreek, Haleycreek, Thirdlake, and Uranatina soils.
Alterationcreek soils are well drained, have a umbric epipedon, and occur on mountain valleys and hillslopes.
Basaltlake soils are well drained, have a cambic horizon, and occur on mountains.
Haggardcreek soils are well drained, have a lithic contact between 65 and 148 cm (26 to 58 in), and occur on mountain slopes and hill slopes.
Haleycreek soils are well drained, have a mollic epipedon, and occurs on hillslopes of mountains and river valleys.
Thirdlake soils are poorly drained, have redoximorphic concentrations starting between 6 to 27 cm (2 to 11 in), and occur on glacial lakes and flats in outwash plains.
Uranatina soils are well drained, have mottles in Bw and C horizons, and occur on outwash plains and glacial lakes.
