COMPETING SERIES: These are the Ramah (NM) and Teczuni (NM) series. Potential competitors that have not yet been reclassified are the Montecito (NM), Paguate (NM), and Teco (NM) series. Montecito, Ramah, Teco and Teczuni soils are very deep. Paguate soils are moderately deep to a lithic contact of basalt.
GEOGRAPHIC SETTING: Jacee soils are nearly level to moderately sloping bedrock controlled plains, mesa tops, and small alluvial fans. Elevation ranges from 6,300 to 7,000 feet. The mean annual precipitation is about 12 to 15 inches, the mean annual temperature is about 47 to 54 degrees F., and the frost-free season is about 115 to 130 days.
GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are the Celacy, Goesling, Hickman and Catman soils. Celacy soils are in a fine-loamy particle size class. Goesling, Hickman and Catman soils are deep.
DRAINAGE AND PERMEABILITY: Well drained, medium runoff; slow permeability.
USE AND VEGETATION: Jacee soils are used for grazing. Present vegetation is mainly blue grama, galleta, and fourwing saltbush.
DISTRIBUTION AND EXTENT: Catron County, New Mexico. This series is of moderate extent. MLRA 35.
MLRA SOIL SURVEY REGIONAL OFFICE (MO) RESPONSIBLE: Phoenix, Arizona
