TYPICAL PEDON: Jacksoncreek peat on an east facing convex, convex terrace on a slope of 3 percent at an elevation of 148 m (The soil was moist from 0 to 19 cm, wet from 39 to 150 cm and wet, non-satiated, from 19 to 39 cm when described on June 11, 2019.)

Oi--0 to 17 cm; peat, yellow (10YR 7/6) dry, yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) moist; nonsticky, nonplastic; nonsmeary; many very fine, fine, and medium roots throughout; extremely acid (pH 3.8); clear smooth boundary

Oe--17 to 26 cm; mucky peat, brown (7.5YR 4/3) dry, very dark brown (7.5YR 2.5/3) moist; nonsticky, nonplastic; nonsmeary; common very fine, few medium, and many fine roots throughout; extremely acid (pH 4.2); clear wavy boundary

Bgjj--26 to 45 cm; very fine sandy loam, 95 percent light gray (5Y 7/1) and 5 percent brown (7.5YR 4/2) dry, 95 percent dark greenish gray (10Y 4/1) and 5 percent very dark brown (7.5YR 2.5/2) moist; weak coarse subangular blocky structure; firm, nonsticky, nonplastic; nonsmeary; common very fine and few medium roots throughout; very fine irregular pores; 15 percent medium lenticular strong brown (7.5YR 4/6) masses of oxidized iron; very strongly acid (pH 4.8); clear irregular boundary
