TYPICAL PEDON: Kingslough silt loam on a forested flood plain with a slope of 1 percent and an elevation of 125 m (The soil was moist throughout when described on August 16, 2010.)

Oe--0 to 6 cm; moderately decomposed plant material; common fine and very fine roots; slightly alkaline (pH 7.5); abrupt wavy boundary

A--6 to 9 cm; silt loam; dark gray (2.5Y 4/1) dry, black (2.5Y 2.5/1) moist; weak very fine granular structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine to medium roots; common fine and medium pores; strongly effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.4); clear smooth boundary

C--9 to 87 cm; silt loam; light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2) dry, dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2) moist; weak medium platy structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine to coarse roots; few fine and medium pores; slightly effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.3); clear smooth boundary

Cf--87 to 100 cm; permanently frozen silt loam; light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2) dry, dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2) moist; massive; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; few fine pores; slightly effervescent; slightly alkaline (pH 7.8)
