GEOGRAPHIC SETTING: Meadview soils are on fan remnants. Elevations range from 1,600 to 4,500 feet. Slopes range from 1 to 40 percent. These soils formed in alluvium mainly from granite and limestone. The mean annual precipitation is 5 to 12 inches. The mean annual air temperature is 57 to 70 degrees F. The frost-free period is 180 to 280 days.
GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are the
Arizo,
Greyeagle,
Detrital,
Skelon and
Yurm soils. Arizo soils lack a calcic horizon. Greyeagle and Yurm soils are shallow to a hardpan. Detrital soils are loamy. Skelon soils are moderately deep to a hardpan.
DRAINAGE AND PERMEABILITY: Well drained; very low to high runoff; moderately rapid permeability.
USE AND VEGETATION: These soils are used for rangeland and wildlife habitat. Vegetation includes blackbrush, Joshua tree and Mohave Yucca.
DISTRIBUTION AND EXTENT: Mojave Desert of Northwestern Arizona and southern Nevada. Meadview soils are of moderate extent. MLRA is 30.
