TYPICAL PEDON: Nomundy gravelly ashy loam, woodland.

Oi--0 to 5 cm; slightly decomposed fir needles, twigs and leaves

A--5 to 25 centimeters; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) gravelly ashy loam, dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) dry; moderate very fine granular, and moderate fine granular structure; soft, very friable, slightly sticky, nonplastic; many very fine roots, few medium roots and common fine roots; many very fine irregular pores and common fine irregular pores; 15 percent gravels and 5 percent cobbles; slightly alkaline (pH 7.6); gradual wavy boundary.

Bw--25 to 53 centimeters; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) gravelly ashy clay loam, grayish brown (10YR 5/2) dry; moderate fine subangular blocky structure; hard, friable, moderately sticky, moderately plastic; common very fine and fine roots; common very fine tubular and few fine tubular pores; 10 percent gravels and 5 percent cobbles; slightly alkaline (pH 7.4); clear wavy boundary.

2Bt1--53 to 97 centimeters; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) extremely cobbly clay, moist, grayish brown (10YR 5/2) dry; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; hard, firm, very sticky, very plastic; few very fine and fine roots; few very fine and fine tubular pores; 50 percent faint clay films on ped faces; 40 percent gravels, 20 percent cobbles, and 10 percent stones; slightly alkaline (pH 7.5); clear wavy boundary.

2Bt2--97 to 170 centimeters; dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) extremely cobbly clay, light brownish gray (10YR 6/2) dry; moderate medium and coarse subangular blocky structure; hard, firm, very sticky, very plastic; few very fine and few fine and medium roots; few very fine and fine tubular pores; 50 percent distinct clay films on surfaces along pores and ped faces; 35 percent gravels, 20 percent cobbles, and 10 percent stones; slightly alkaline (pH 7.5)

TYPE LOCATION: Grant County, Oregon; 25 km northeast of Monument; 86 m south of road; 800 m north and 795 m east of the SW corner of sec. 11, T. 7 S., R. 29 E.; Latitude 44.9743611, Longitude -119.1936944, WGS84; coordinates determined from GPS.
