TYPICAL PEDON: Oldwomanriver silt linear, linear floodplain on a slope of 0.5 percent at an elevation of 65 m (The soil was moist throughout when described on June 22, 2016.)

Oe--0 to 5 cm; moderately decomposed plant material, dark gray (10YR 4/1) dry, black (10YR 2/1) moist; nonsticky, nonplastic; many very fine and common fine, medium, and coarse roots; slightly acid (pH 6.4); abrupt smooth boundary

C/A--5 to 14 cm; stratified silt, 60 percent grayish brown (10YR 5/2) and 40 percent dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) dry, 60 percent very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) and 40 percent very dark brown (10YR 2/2) moist; weak medium granular structure; very friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; common very fine, fine, medium, and coarse roots; moderately acid (pH 6.0); clear smooth boundary

Bw--14 to 35 cm; stratified silt loam, very fine sandy loam, grayish brown (10YR5/2) dry and very dark grayish brown(10YR 3/2) moist; weak medium subangular blocky structure; friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; common very fine, fine, medium, and coarse roots; common fine irregular pores; 2 percent fine lenticular dark brown (10YR 3/3) moist masses of oxidized iron with clear boundaries lining pores; moderately acid (pH 6.0); clear smooth boundary

C1--35 to 68 cm; stratified fine sandy loam, silt loam, grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) dry, very dark grayish brown (2.5Y 3/2) moist; massive; friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; common very fine, fine, medium, and coarse roots; 1 percent fine irregular dark yellowish brown (10YR 3/4) moist masses of oxidized iron with diffuse boundaries in matrix and 2 percent fine irregular dark gray (2.5Y 4/1) mottles lining pores; slightly acid (pH 6.3)
