TYPICAL PEDON: Piniiptit silt loam in an area of rangeland, on a 2-percent, east-northeast-facing slope on the top of a plateau at an elevation of 700 m (All textures are apparent field textures.)
A1--0 to 15 cm; silt loam, brown (10YR 5/3) dry, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist; weak thick platy structure parting to moderate fine platy; soft, very friable, slightly sticky and nonplastic; many very fine and fine and few medium roots; common very fine and fine irregular pores; neutral (pH 7.0); abrupt smooth boundary
A2--15 to 33 cm; silt loam, brown (10YR 5/3) dry, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist; weak medium prismatic structure parting to moderate medium subangular blocky; soft, very friable, slightly sticky and nonplastic; common fine and medium roots; common very fine and fine irregular pores; neutral (pH 7.0); clear smooth boundary
