TYPICAL PEDON: Southriver sandy loam on a north northeastern facing convex, linear floodplain on a slope of 1 percent at an elevation of 265 m (The soil was moist throughout the profile when described on June 19, 2018.)

Oa--0 to 5 cm; highly decomposed plant material, grayish brown (10YR 5/2) dry, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist; many very fine and fine and common medium roots; slightly acid (pH 6.1); abrupt wavy boundary

Bw--5 to 27 cm; loamy sand, light brownish gray (10YR 6/2) dry, dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) moist; weak, coarse, subangular blocky structure; nonsticky, nonplastic; many very fine roots and common fine and medium roots; common very fine and few fine irregular pores; 5 percent gravel; slightly acid (pH 6.3); abrupt wavy boundary

2C1--27 to 60 cm; extremely gravelly sand, light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2) dry, dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2) moist; single grain; nonsticky, nonplastic; many very fine roots and common fine roots; 70 percent fine prominent irregular moderately cemented very dusky red (2.5YR 2.5/2) manganese coatings with sharp boundaries on bottom of rock fragments; 10 percent cobbles, 50 percent gravel; neutral (pH 6.8); abrupt wavy boundary

2C2--60 to 150 cm; gravel, light yellowish brown (2.5Y 6/3) dry, olive brown (2.5Y 4/3) moist; single grain; nonsticky, nonplastic; 90 percent fine prominent irregular moderately cemented very dusky red (2.5YR 2.5/2) manganese coatings with sharp boundaries on bottom of rock fragments; 5 percent cobbles, 80 percent gravel; neutral (pH 6.8)
