TYPICAL PEDON: Tanjoga stratified peat, mucky peat on a scrubland terrace with a slope of 1 percent and an elevation of 100 m (The soil was wet throughout when described on August 31, 2015.)

Oe/Oa1--0 to 9 cm; stratified peat to mucky peat; common very fine, fine, and medium roots; noneffervescent; slightly acid (pH 6.1); abrupt smooth boundary

Oa2--9 to 25 cm; muck; common very fine and fine roots; noneffervescent; slightly acid (pH 6.3); abrupt smooth boundary

Cg1--25 to 45 cm; silt loam; gray (2.5Y 6/1) dry, dark gray (2.5Y 4/1) moist; massive; moderately hard, firm, nonsticky and slightly plastic; common fine roots; few fine and medium pores; 20 percent strong brown (7.5YR 4/6) moist, masses of oxidized iron in matrix; noneffervescent; slightly acid (pH 6.4); clear smooth boundary

Cg2--45 to 65 cm; very fine sandy loam; 50 percent gray (10YR 5/1) dry, very dark gray (10YR 3/1) moist and 50 percent grayish brown (10YR 5/2) dry, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist; massive; moderately hard, firm, nonsticky and moderately plastic; few fine pores; 5 percent dark gray (2.5Y 4/1) moist, iron depletions in matrix and 10 percent brown (7.5YR 4/4) moist, masses of oxidized iron in matrix; noneffervescent; neutral (pH 6.6); clear smooth boundary

Cg3--65 to 95 cm; very fine sandy loam; 50 percent grayish brown (10YR 5/2) dry, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist and 50 percent light brownish gray (10YR 6/2) dry, dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) moist; massive; moderately hard, firm, nonsticky and moderately plastic; few fine pores; 5 percent dark gray (2.5Y 4/1) moist, iron depletions in matrix and 5 percent dark brown (7.5YR 3/4) moist, masses of oxidized iron in matrix; noneffervescent; neutral (pH 7.0)
