TYPICAL PEDON: Tidalwave very fine sandy loam, forested, on a terrace, on a slope of 4 percent at an elevation of 4 m (When described on June 4, 2015, the soil was moist from the surface to a depth of 150 cm.)

Oa--0 to 4 cm; highly decomposed plant material; slightly acid (pH 6.1); abrupt smooth boundary

A--4 to 16 cm; very fine sandy loam, dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) dry, very dark brown (10YR 2/2) moist; weak fine subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine, fine, coarse, and very coarse and many medium roots throughout ; many very fine and fine irregular pores; noneffervescent; slightly acid (pH 6.4); abrupt smooth boundary

Bw--16 to 24 cm; fine sandy loam, very pale brown (10YR 7/4) dry, yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) moist; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine, fine, and very coarse and many medium and coarse roots throughout; many very fine and fine irregular pores; noneffervescent; slightly acid (pH 6.5); clear smooth boundary

BC--24 to 49 cm; sandy loam, yellow (2.5Y 7/6) dry, light olive brown (2.5Y 5/6) moist; 10 percent fine light olive brown (2.5Y 5/3) and 15 percent fine dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/6) mottles; weak medium subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine, fine, and medium roots throughout; many very fine and fine irregular pores; noneffervescent; slightly acid (pH 6.3); gradual smooth boundary

2C--49 to 150 cm; gravelly coarse sand, light gray (2.5Y 7/2) dry, grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) moist; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; common fine and medium roots in upper part; many very fine and common fine interstitial pores; 2 percent subangular cobbles and 18 percent subrounded gravel; noneffervescent; slightly acid (pH 6.2)
