Ak2--5 to 25 cm; gravelly loam, brown (10YR 5/3) dry, brown (10YR 4/3) moist; weak fine granular structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; many very fine and few fine roots; many very fine irregular pores; 20 percent gravel; violently effervescent (12 percent calcium carbonate); moderately alkaline (pH 8.4); clear wavy boundary

ABk--25 to 39 cm; gravelly silt loam, pale brown (10YR 6/3) dry, dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) moist; strong coarse subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; many very fine and few fine and medium roots; common very fine and fine tubular pores; 30 percent gravel; violently effervescent (21 percent calcium carbonate); moderately alkaline (pH 8.4); abrupt smooth boundary
