(15 to 28 cm thick)

Bqk--86 to 112 cm; brown (7.5YR 5/4) very gravelly loam, brown (7.5YR 4/4) moist; massive; hard, firm and brittle, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; few very fine tubular and common very fine interstitial pores; very few faint clay films bridging sand grains; 55 percent gravel; secondary carbonates segregated as common fine filaments; strongly effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.4); gradual wavy boundary. (15 to 30 cm thick)

Bk--112 to 152 cm; pinkish gray (7.5YR 6/2) extremely gravelly sandy loam, brown (7.5YR 4/2) moist; massive; hard, very friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; few very fine roots; few very fine tubular and common very fine interstitial pores; 65 percent gravel; secondary carbonates segregated as few fine filaments; strongly effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.0).

COMPETING SERIES: These are the Alley, Allor, Chime, Cleghorn, Glyphs, Igert, Mimentor, Nevador, Qwynn, Wedertz, Wedlar, and Zevadez series.

Alley soils do not have subhorizons of the argillic horizon with less than 15 percent rock fragments and do not have identifiable secondary carbonates in the argillic horizon. Allor have 27 to 35 percent clay in the particle-size control section. Chime soils are moderately deep to paralithic contacts. Cleghorn soils have 0 to 5 percent rock fragments in the particle-size control section. Glyphs and Zevadez soils are 30 to 50 cm to the base of the argillic horizon. Igert soils are moderately deep to lithic contacts. Mimentor, Nevador, and Wedlar soils do not have identifiable secondary carbonates in the argillic horizon and do not have horizons which are firm and brittle when moist. Qwynn soils are not intermittently moist during summer months and lack Bk horizons above the argillic horizon. Wedertz soils do not have secondary carbonates in the lower part of the argillic horizon and have 0 to 5 percent rock fragments in the particle-size control section.

GEOGRAPHIC SETTING: Aladshi soils are on the distal parts of fan remnants. They formed in alluvium derived from mixed rocks. Slopes are 2 to 8 percent. Elevations range from 1,345 to 1,590 meters. The climate is semiarid with cool, moist winters and warm, dry summers. The mean annual precipitation is 180 to 230 mm, mean annual temperature is 8 to 11 degrees C., and the frost-free period is 100 to 120 days.

GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are Cassiro and Kayo soils. Cassiro soils are clayey-skeletal, have mollic epipedons, and do not have horizons which are firm and brittle when moist. Kayo soils are loamy-skeletal and do not have horizons which are firm and brittle when moist.

DRAINAGE AND SATURATED HYDRAULIC CONDUCTIVITY: Well drained; medium or high surface runoff; moderately slow permeability; moderately high saturated hydraulic conductivity.

USE AND VEGETATION: Aladshi soils are used for livestock grazing, wildlife, irrigated cropland, and urban development. The vegetation is principally Wyoming big sagebrush, spiny hopsage, bottlebrush squirreltail, Indian ricegrass, Douglas rabbitbrush, and cheatgrass.
