TYPICAL PEDON: Bugley channery silt loam - on a 10 percent slope in a loblolly pine plantation. (Colors are for moist soil.)
Ap--0 to 3 inches; yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) channery silt loam; weak fine granular structure; friable, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; many fine, medium, and coarse roots; 25 percent channers; common fine flakes of mica; extremely acid; clear smooth boundary. (0 to 7 inches thick.)
Bw--3 to 13 inches; yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) very channery silt loam; weak fine subangular blocky structure; friable, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; many fine, medium, and coarse roots; 40 percent channers; common fine flakes of mica; extremely acid; clear wavy boundary. (7 to 15 inches thick.)
Cr--13 to 18 inches; yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) slightly weathered sericite schist that crushes to extremely channery silt loam. (0 to 10 inches thick.)
R--18 inches, hard sericite schist
