TYPICAL PEDON: Chissovun mucky peat on a woodland terrace with a slope of 2 percent and an elevation of 130 m (The soil was moist throughout when described on September 13, 2015.)

Oe--0 to 11 cm; mucky peat; dark reddish brown (5YR 2.5/2) moist; many very fine roots, and common fine to very coarse roots; very strongly acid (pH 5.0); clear smooth boundary

Oa--11 to 22 cm; muck; black (5YR 2.5/1) moist; common very fine to very coarse roots; strongly acid (pH 5.5); clear irregular boundary

Cg--22 to 38 cm; silt loam; 50 percent gray (2.5Y 6/1) dry, dark gray (2.5Y 4/1) moist, and 50 percent light gray (2.5Y 7/1) dry, gray (2.5Y 5/1) moist; massive; slightly hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; common very fine and fine roots; few fine and medium pores; 30 percent strong brown (7.5YR 4/6) moist, masses of oxidized iron in matrix; noneffervescent; neutral (pH 7.2); clear wavy boundary
