Ag--0 to 22 centimeters (0 to 9 inches); dark gray (2.5Y 4/1) fine sandy loam; nonsticky, nonplastic; nonfluid; few very fine roots throughout; 1 percent fine prominent dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/6) iron concentrations with clear boundaries lining pores and 1 percent medium faint gray (2.5Y 5/1) iron depletions with clear boundaries in matrix; 2 percent medium shell fragments; electrical conductivity of 33.0 dS/m, saturated paste; slightly acid; clear boundary. (5 to 30 centimeters, 2 to 12 inches thick).
Cg1--22 to 63 centimeters (9 to 25 inches); greenish gray (10Y 5/1) fine sandy loam; nonsticky, nonplastic; nonfluid; common very fine roots throughout; 1 percent medium prominent brownish yellow (10YR 6/6) iron concentrations with clear boundaries in matrix and 1 percent medium distinct gray (5Y 5/1) iron depletions with clear boundaries in matrix surrounding redox concentrations and 1 percent medium prominent dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/6) iron concentrations with clear boundaries lining pores; 1 percent fine shell fragments; electrical conductivity of 25.0 dS/m, saturated paste; strongly acid; gradual, boundary.
Cg2--63 to 112 centimeters (25 to 44 inches); greenish gray (5GY 5/1) fine sandy loam; nonsticky, nonplastic; nonfluid; few very fine roots throughout; 1 percent fine prominent greenish gray (10GY 6/1) iron depletions with clear boundaries in matrix and 1 percent medium prominent dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/6) iron concentrations with clear boundaries in matrix and 2 percent fine prominent dark gray (2.5Y 4/1) iron depletions with clear boundaries lining pores; 1 percent very fine shell fragments; electrical conductivity of 27.0 dS/m, saturated paste; strongly acid; gradual boundary.

Galveston County, TX; from the intersection of FM 3005 and 8 Mile Rd west of Galveston, Texas; about 2.0 miles northwest on 8 Mile Rd to Sportsman Rd; 1.3 miles west on Sportsman Rd to kayak launch; then travel by kayak 1.6 miles southwest along shore of West Galveston Bay, and 0.3 miles east in Mentzel Bayou; USGS topographic quadrangle: Lake Como, TX.

SERIES PROPOSED: Brazoria County, Texas, 2021. The name is coined from Dana Cove, a barrier cove in West Galveston Bay.
