TYPICAL PEDON: Ekwok silt loam on a rise of a plain, on a 3-percent slope at an elevation of 31 m (The soil was moist throughout when described on July 31, 2006.)

Oi--0 to 3 cm; slightly decomposed plant material; many very fine, fine, and medium and few coarse roots; moderately acid (pH 5.8); clear smooth boundary

E/A--3 to 7 cm; ashy silt loam, matrix color 60 percent light brownish gray (10YR 6/2) dry, dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) moist, and 40 percent brown (10YR 5/3) dry, dark brown (10YR 3/3) moist; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; many very fine and fine, common medium, and few coarse roots; extremely acid (pH 4.4); clear smooth boundary

Bhs--7 to 15 cm; medial silt loam, reddish brown (5YR 5/4) dry, dark reddish brown (5YR 3/4) moist; weak medium subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine, fine, and medium and few coarse roots; very strongly acid (pH 4.8); abrupt wavy boundary
