TYPICAL PEDON: Katchi silt on a south southeast facing linear, linear toeslope on a slope of 3 percent at an elevation of 271 m (The soil was moist throughout the soil profile when described on July 30, 2019.)

Oi--0 to 10 cm; slightly decomposed plant material, yellow (10YR 8/6) dry, brownish yellow (10YR 6/6) moist; many very fine and fine and common medium roots; very strongly acid (pH 4.8); abrupt smooth boundary

Oa--10 to 16 cm; highly decomposed plant material, brown (7.5YR 4/2) dry, very dark brown (7.5YR 2.5/2) moist; many very fine, common fine, and few coarse roots; strongly acid (pH 5.1); abrupt smooth boundary

A--16 to 28 cm; silt, grayish brown (10YR 5/2) dry, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist; weak fine subangular blocky structure; friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; nonsmeary; few very fine and fine roots; very fine tubular pores; 2 percent subrounded gravel; strongly acid (pH 5.3); abrupt wavy boundary

Bw/Ajj--28 to 48 cm; silt loam, 90 percent pale yellow (2.5Y 7/3) and 10 percent light yellowish brown (2.5Y 6/3) dry, 90 percent light olive brown (2.5Y 5/3) and 10 percent olive brown (2.5Y 4/3) moist; moderate coarse subangular blocky structure; firm, slightly sticky, nonplastic; nonsmeary; few very fine roots; very fine tubular pores; 7 percent subangular gravel; moderately acid (pH 5.6); clear wavy boundary
