TYPICAL PEDON: Koniag medial silt loam - on a grass herbaceous and shrubby plains at elevation of 145 meters (480 feet). (All colors are for moist soil.)

Oe--0 to 9 centimeters (0 to 4 inches); black (10YR 2/1), dark gray (10YR 4/1), dry; moderately decomposed plant material; weak fine granular structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; many fine, and common medium and coarse roots throughout; moderately acid (pH 5.7); clear smooth boundary. (2 to 15 cm, 1 to 6 in thick)

A--9 to 19 centimeters (4 to 8 inches); very dark gray (7.5YR 3/1) medial silt loam; moderate fine granular structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; many fine, and common medium and coarse roots throughout; moderately acid (pH 5.9); clear smooth boundary. (3 to 15 cm, 1 to 6 in thick)

Bw1--19 to 55 centimeters (8 to 22 inches); dark brown (7.5YR 3/4) medial silt loam; weak fine subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; common fine, medium, and coarse roots throughout; moderately acid (pH 5.6); gradual smooth boundary.

Bw2--55 to 93 centimeters (22 to 37 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/6) medial silt loam; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; common fine and medium roots throughout; moderately acid (pH 5.6); abrupt wavy boundary. (Combined thickness is 45 to 130 cm, 18 to 51 in thick)

2C--93 to 200 centimeters (37 to 79 inches); gray (2.5Y 5/1) very gravelly sandy loam; massive; slightly hard, very friable, slightly sticky, nonplastic; 45 percent gravel and 5 percent cobble; moderately acid (pH 5.7).

Tonki soils have aquic features within 0 to 25 cm (0 to 10 in) and occur on drainageways and depressions.
Tungalara soils have skeletal particle-sized control sections and occur on similar positions.
Wineskey soils have aquic features at depths greater between 41 to 100 cm (16 to 40 in) and occur on drainageways and depressions.

Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity: very high in the Oe horizon, moderately high to high in the A and Bw horizons, and high or very high in the 2C.

Used for water shed. Native vegetation is Sitka Spruce, Forb meadow and Grass.
