TYPICAL PEDON: Kouwegok stratified sandy loam on a linear, linear floodplain, on the leeward side of a coastal berm, on a slope of 0 percent at an elevation of 3 m (The soil was moist throughout the profile when described on July 12, 2015.)

Oe--0 to 5 cm; moderately decomposed plant material, brown (7.5YR 5/2) dry, dark brown (7.5YR 3/2) moist; many very fine roots and few medium roots and common fine roots; neutral (pH 7.0); clear smooth boundary

A1--5 to 12 cm; stratified sandy loam, 70 percent grayish brown (10YR 5/2) and 30 percent dark gray (10YR 4/1) dry, 70 percent very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) and 30 percent black (10YR 2/1) moist; weak medium subangular blocky structure; friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; many very fine and few fine roots; few fine irregular pores; slightly acid (pH 6.4); clear smooth boundary

A2--12 to 22 cm; stratified silt loam, grayish brown (10YR 5/2) dry, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist; weak thin platy structure; friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; many very fine roots; slightly acid (pH 6.4); clear smooth boundary
