TAXONOMIC CLASS: Euic, subgelic Typic Folistels

TYPICAL PEDON: Penguquq slightly decomposed plant material on a convex, convex mound in a drainageway on a plain, on a slope of 2 percent at an elevation of 374 m (The soil was moist to 28 cm and wet, satiated throughout the rest of the profile when described on June 14, 2017.)

Oi--0 to 16 cm; slightly decomposed plant material, reddish yellow (7.5YR 6/6) dry, strong brown (7.5YR 4/6) moist; many very fine roots and common medium roots and common fine roots and common coarse roots; extremely acid (pH 3.8); abrupt smooth boundary

Oe--16 to 32 cm; moderately decomposed plant material, very dark gray (10YR 3/1) dry, black (10YR 2/1) moist; many very fine roots and common medium roots and common fine roots; very strongly acid (pH 4.5); clear irregular boundary, 6 percent mottled ice lenses

Oe/Ajj--32 to 58 cm; moderately decomposed plant material, 64 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) dry, dark yellowish brown (10YR 3/4) moist and 30 percent dark gray (10YR 4/1) dry, black (10YR 2/1) moist, and 6 percent brown (7.5YR 5/4) dry, dark brown (7.5YR 3/4) moist; weak fine subangular blocky structure; firm, nonsticky, nonplastic; common very fine roots; strongly acid (pH 5.3); clear smooth boundary, 6 percent mottled ice lenses present and 15 percent lenticular ice lenses present

Oe/Ajjf--58 to 65 cm; permanently frozen silt loam, permanently frozen mucky peat, 88 percent very dark gray (10YR 3/1) and 12 percent dark brown (10YR 3/3) moist; moderate thin platy structure; very firm, nonsticky, nonplastic; strongly acid (pH 5.4); clear wavy boundary, 15 percent lenticular ice lenses present
