A--4 to 27 cm; very cobbly sandy loam, brown (10YR 5/3) dry, dark brown (10YR 3/3) moist; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; common very fine, fine, medium, and coarse roots throughout; common very fine and fine irregular pores; 5 percent angular flagstones and 10 percent angular channers and 10 percent subangular fine gravel and 10 percent subangular gravel and 20 percent subangular cobbles; very strongly acid (pH 5.0); clear wavy boundary
