TYPICAL PEDON: Vivid silt on a graminoid-covered depression in a glacial-valley floor, on a slope of 3 percent at an elevation of 44 m (When described on September 2, 2013, the soil was moist from the surface to a depth of 8 cm and wet from a depth of 8 to 150 cm.)
Oe--0 to 8 cm; moderately decomposed plant material; moderately acid (pH 5.9); clear smooth boundary
Cg1--8 to 28 cm; silt, gray (10YR 6/1) dry, dark greenish gray (10Y 4/1) moist; massive; slightly hard, friable, slightly sticky and nonplastic; common very fine and fine roots throughout; many very fine and fine irregular pores; 15 percent medium masses of oxidized iron, yellowish red (5YR 5/8) mois t; strongly effervescent (HCL, 1N); moderately alkaline (pH 7.9); clear smooth boundary
2Cg2--28 to 150 cm; very cobbly sandy loam, gray (10YR 6/1) dry, greenish gray (5GY 5/1) moist; massive; slightly hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; common fine roots throughout; common very fine and fine irregular pores; 10 percent fine masses of oxidized iron, olive yellow (2.5Y 6/8) moist ; 10 percent subrounded gravel and 30 percent subrounded cobbles; strongly effervescent (HCL, 1N); moderately alkaline (pH 7.9)
