TYPICAL PEDON: Tyeen very gravelly sandy loam, forested, on a glacial-valley floor, on a slope of 11 percent at an elevation of 72 m (When described on July 7, 2013, the soil was moist from the surface to a depth of 150 cm.)

Oe--0 to 4 cm; moderately decomposed plant material; moderately acid (pH 5.9); clear smooth boundary

A--4 to 12 cm; very gravelly sandy loam, dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) dry, very dark brown (10YR 2/2) moist; moderate fine granular structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine, coarse, and very coarse and many fine and medium roots throughout; common very fine and fine irregular pores; 4 percent subangular stones, 12 percent subrounded cobbles, and 35 percent rounded gravel; slightly effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 7.9); clear smooth boundary

C1--12 to 50 cm; very gravelly coarse sandy loam, very pale brown (10YR 7/4) dry, yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) moist; massive; slightly hard, friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common fine, coarse, and very coarse and many medium roots throughout; common very fine and fine irregular pores; 5 percent subangular stones, 15 percent subrounded cobbles, and 35 percent rounded gravel; slightly effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 7.9); clear smooth boundary

C2--50 to 150 cm; very gravelly sandy loam, very pale brown (10YR 7/3) dry, brown (10YR 5/3) moist; massive; moderately hard, firm, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; common fine roots in upper part; common very fine and few fine irregular pores; 10 percent subrounded cobbles and 30 percent rounded gravel; slightly effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.0)
