Cg1--2 to 21 cm; silt loam, dark gray (2.5Y 4/1) dry, dark bluish gray (10B 4/1) moist; massive; moderately hard, firm, slightly sticky and nonplastic; common very fine, fine, and medium roots throughout; common very fine and fine interstitial pores; 5 percent fine prominent masses of oxidized iron, strong brown (7.5YR 4/6) moist; slightly saline (electrical conductivity of 4 dS/m); slightly effervescent (HCL, 1N); moderately alkaline (pH 7.9); clear smooth boundary
