A--1 to 3 cm; loamy sand, light olive gray (5Y 6/2) dry, olive gray (5Y 4/2) moist, weak fine granular structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common fine and medium and many very fine roots; common very fine and fine interstitial pores; slightly effervescent (HCl, 1 normal); slightly alkaline (pH 7.8); abrupt smooth boundary

C1--3 to 25 cm; sand, light gray (5Y 7/2) dry, olive gray (5Y 5/2) moist; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine to coarse roots; common very fine and fine interstitial pores; slightly effervescent (HCl, 1 normal); moderately alkaline (pH 8.1); clear smooth boundary

C2--25 to 80 cm; sand, light gray (5Y 7/2) dry, olive gray (5Y 5/2) moist; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; common fine and medium roots; common very fine and fine interstitial pores; slightly effervescent (HCl, 1 normal); moderately alkaline (pH 8.1); clear wavy boundary

C3--80 to 125 cm; fine sand and lenses of silt loam, 50 percent light gray (5Y 7/1) dry and gray (5Y 6/1) moist, 50 percent light gray (2.5Y 7/1) dry and gray (5Y 5/1) moist; massive; slightly hard, friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; few very fine interstitial pores; slightly effervescent (HCl, 1 normal); moderately alkaline (pH 8.2); clear smooth boundary

C4--125 to 150 cm; sand, light gray (5Y 7/1) dry, gray (5Y 5/1) moist; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; strongly effervescent (HCl, 1 normal); moderately alkaline (pH 8.1)
