A--8 to 37 cm; stony sandy loam, dark gray (10YR 4/1) dry, black (10YR 2/1) moist; moderate fine granular structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine and many fine, medium, coarse, and very coarse roots throughout; common very fine and fine irregular pores; 5 percent subrounded cobbles, 10 percent subangular stones, and 10 percent rounded gravel, by volume; noneffervescent; strongly acid (pH 5.3); clear wavy boundary
C--37 to 70 cm; extremely stony coarse sandy loam, light brownish gray (10YR 6/2) dry, dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) moist; massive; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine, fine, medium, coarse, and very coarse roots throughout; common very fine and fine irregular pores; 15 percent subrounded cobbles, 20 percent subangular stones, and 25 percent rounded gravel, by volume; noneffervescent; strongly acid (pH 5.5); abrupt smooth boundary
