A--2 to 8 cm; very gravelly loamy coarse sand, grayish brown (10YR 5/2) dry, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist; weak granular structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine, fine, medium, and coarse roots throughout; common very fine and fine interstitial pores; 2 percent stones, 5 percent cobbles, 10 percent medium gravel, and 25 percent fine gravel; very slightly effervescent; slightly alkaline (pH 7.4); clear smooth boundary

C1--8 to 43 cm; variegated extremely gravelly coarse sand; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine, fine, medium, and coarse roots throughout; common very fine and fine interstitial pores; 2 percent stones, 10 percent cobbles, 25 percent medium gravel, and 25 percent fine gravel; noneffervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.3); gradual smooth boundary

C2--43 to 150 cm; variegated extremely gravelly coarse sand; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; 4 percent stones, 10 percent fine gravel, 10 percent cobbles, and 50 percent medium gravel; noneffervescent; strongly alkaline (pH 8.5)
