TYPICAL PEDON: Nank ashy sandy loam in an area of forestland, on a 3-percent, east-facing slope at an elevation of 975 m (All textures are apparent field textures.)
Oi--0 to 5 cm; slightly decomposed conifer needles, twigs, cones, and grasses
A--5 to 23 cm; ashy sandy loam, yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) dry, very dark brown (10YR 2/2) moist; weak medium subangular blocky structure parting to weak medium granular; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; many very fine and few medium and coarse roots; few fine irregular pores; neutral (pH 6.8), NaF pH 10.6; clear smooth boundary

TYPE LOCATION: Yakama Nation, Yakima County, Washington, about 8 km southeast of Signal Peak Ranger Station; about 850 m west and 90 m south of the northeast corner of section 19, T. 8 N., R. 14 E.; Willamette Meridian; latitude 46.172102, longitude -121.10183, datum WGS 84 (coordinates estimated from section, township, and range)
