MLRA SOIL SURVEY REGIONAL OFFICE (MO) RESPONSIBLE: Raleigh, North Carolina

SERIES ESTABLISHED: Perquimans County, North Carolina; 1982.

REMARKS: In the past Perquimans soils have been included with Tomotley and Roanoke soils. However, Tomotley soils are in a fine-loamy family, and Roanoke soils are in a clayey family. Particle-size data are available for this pedon.

Diagnostic horizons and soil properties recognized in the typical pedon are:

Ochric epipedon -the zone from 0 to 8 inches (Ap and Eg horizons)

Argillic horizon -the zone between depths of 8 to 62 inches (Btg1, Btg2, Btg3 and Btg4 horizons)
