TAXONOMIC CLASS: Coarse-loamy, mixed, superactive, calcareous Aquic Cryorthents

TYPICAL PEDON: Strawberry sandy loam on an herbaceous estuarine beach plain, on a slope of 2 percent at an elevation of 1 m (When described on June 23, 2014, the soil was moist from the surface to a depth of 49 cm and wet from a depth of 49 to 150 cm.)

Oe--0 to 3 cm; moderately decomposed plant material; strongly acid (pH 5.5); abrupt smooth boundary

C--3 to 49 cm; sandy loam, very pale brown (10YR 7/3) dry, brown (10YR 5/3) moist; 15 percent fine dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/6) mottles; massive; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine and coarse and many fine and medium roots throughout; common very fine and fine irregular pores; noneffervescent (HCL, 1N); slightly alkaline (pH 7.7); gradual smooth boundary

Cg--49 to 150 cm; fine sandy loam, light gray (5Y 7/2) dry, olive gray (5Y 5/2) moist; massive; slightly hard, friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common fine and medium roots in upper part; few very fine and fine irregular pores; 30 percent medium masses of reduced iron, dark gray (10YR 4/1) moist; slightly effervescent (HCL, 1N); moderately alkaline (pH 7.9)
