TYPICAL PEDON: Tulebagh mucky peat on a woodland interdune depression with a slope of 1 percent and an elevation of 160 m (The soil was wet throughout when described on September 14, 2015.)
Oe--0 to 10 cm; mucky peat; many very fine roots, common fine, medium, and coarse roots; slightly acid (pH 6.2); clear irregular boundary
Oa--10 to 35 cm; muck; common very fine, fine, and medium roots; slightly alkaline (pH 7.5); abrupt irregular boundary
Cg/Oajj--35 to 62 cm; very fine sandy loam; 40 percent gray (2.5Y 6/1) dry, dark gray (2.5Y 4/1) moist, and 40 percent light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2) dry, dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2) moist, and 20 percent dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) dry, very dark brown (10YR 2/2) moist; massive; slightly hard, friable, nonsticky and slightly plastic; common very fine and fine roots; few fine and medium pores; 10 percent strong brown (7.5YR 4/6) moist, masses of oxidized iron in matrix and 20 percent gray (2.5Y 5/1) moist, iron depletions in matrix; noneffervescent; slightly alkaline (pH 7.7); abrupt wavy boundary
