Oa--3 to 12 cm; highly decomposed plant material; very strongly acid (pH 4.7); abrupt smooth boundary

C--12 to 30 cm; sandy loam, gray (5Y 5/1) dry, dark gray (5Y 4/1) moist; massive; soft, very friable, nonsticky and slightly plastic; common very fine, fine, medium, and very coarse roots throughout; few fine and common very fine interstitial pores; strongly acid (pH 5.3); clear smooth boundary
