TYPICAL PEDON: Yatama ashy sandy loam in an area of forestland, on an 8-percent, northeast-facing toeslope at an elevation of 895 m (All textures are apparent field textures.)

Oi--0 to 8 cm; slightly decomposed grasses, needles, and twigs; abrupt smooth boundary

A1--8 to 20 cm; ashy sandy loam, dark brown (10YR 3/3) dry, very dark brown (10YR 2/2) moist; weak fine subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; weakly smeary; many very fine and fine and few medium roots; common very fine irregular pores; moderately acid (pH 6.0), NaF pH 10.6; gradual smooth boundary

A2--20 to 33 cm; ashy sandy loam, dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) dry, very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) moist, weak fine subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; weakly smeary; common very fine, fine, and medium roots; common very fine irregular pores; 10 percent gravel; slightly acid (pH 6.1), NaF pH 10.6; clear smooth boundary
